ABOUT ROBERT L. HARPER

Robert Harper was educated at Amherst College (B.A.) and Columbia University (M.Arch.). He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts at Fontainebleau, France in 1963 and held a William Kinne Fellows Traveling Fellowship from Columbia University during 1964-65. From 1965 to 1969 he worked for several firms in New Haven, CT, and in 1969 began an association with Charles W. Moore, FAIA, that lasted until Mr. Moore’s death in 1993. In 1975 Mr. Harper co-founded, with Mr. Moore and others, Moore Grover Harper, P.C., Architects and Planners, and its successor firm, Centerbrook, Architects and Planners. In 1997 Mr. Harper established his present firm, Robert L. Harper, FAIA, Architect.

Major buildings for which Mr. Harper was responsible include the Williams College Museum of Art, Williamstown, MA, and the Life Sciences Building at Amherst College, Amherst, MA. He has completed more than fifty residential projects.

Mr. Harper has taught architectural design at The Rhode Island School of Design, Yale University School of Art & Architecture, and Carnegie-Mellon University School of Architecture.

Mr. Harper’s work has been featured in exhibitions at Smith College, Williams College, Columbia University, and Roger Williams University. His work has been published in America, Europe, and Japan.

Mr. Harper was elected to College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 1985. He is a Trustee of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation.
